Wettability after Artificial and Natural Weathering of Polyethylene Terephthalate

The weathering of plastics is always accompanied by a change in surface properties, especially wettability the case water. For an aquatic environment, plays important role transport, sedimentation, and dispersion water body. To quantify wettability, contact angle measurement fast convenient method that requires little experimental effort. This technique was used with aim systematically discussing how measured values angles can contribute to assessment state. Using polyethylene terephthalate (PET), wetting analyzed on samples from artificial controlled, natural weathering. Surface analytical methods were (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet visible light (UV/VIS)) analyze parameters affecting angle: (i) chemical bond breaking formation, (ii) eco-corona formation biofilm growth, (iii) structure roughness.
